Hello. I'm Victor Van Dort. I live in a small village and my parents are fairly wealthy. They're currently setting up an arranged marriage for me but... Well, I'm not the most suitable groom. Eventually I'll get my vows down...

Rehearsal issues/Run-in with the dead

corpseemily:

“We are, silly,” Emily laughed. Her new husband certainly seemed to be absent-minded. She was elated, however, to finally be married after all this time. She thought he should know her dark secret though. So bojangles the skeleton congratulated them and proceeded to sing and dance about her awful experience with death, lost love, and lies.

As events progressed, Victor just became more and more confused. His brain was a scrambled mess. All he wanted were answers and then, hopefully, to get out of this crazy place and go home. And in all honesty, he was far too frightened and confused to pay much attention to anything they were trying to tell him, through song or otherwise. About all he could pick out was that he’d just married a corpse, which was obvious even to someone like him.

He tried a few times to run off in all the commotion as the cadavers danced around him, but they easily grabbed hold of him to prevent him from getting away. Struggling only resulted in pulling off their arms, which was more than he could take in his frazzled state at the moment. he tugged at the length of bones still clinging to him. The moment he pried the boy fingers off, he flung the arm away and was off, running for dear life. It didn’t matter that he had no idea where he was. He’d find some way out of here. No way was he going to stick around with a bunch of corpses, and especially not married to one.

Hey, give me a listen, you corpses of cheer
At least those of you who still got an ear
I’ll tell you a story that’d make a skeleton cry
Of our own jubiliciously lovely Corpse Bride

Rehearsal issues/Run-in with the dead

corpseemily:

Finally, after years and years of waiting for her true love to set her free, Emily had come across this scrawny, pale, strange looking man. But it didn’t matter what he looked like, she had been waiting far too long to be picky. He kept running, she wasn’t sure why. She chased and chased him until he blacked out just as they were about to kiss. She closed her eyes and immediately they were sent down to the land of the dead. Also known as Emily’s home. She whispered in his ear, “I hope you like it here,” Even if he couldn’t hear her.

Victor’s eyes shot open as he heard the voice in his ear. He’d hoped he’d only had a nightmare, but as he quickly took in the sights around him, that apparently wasn’t the case, as there were dead people all around. Or at least, he assumed they were dead because normally, the living were not walking around with blue skin, or lack of skin at all.

He jumped up in a panic, trying to put distance between himself and the alarming amount of dead people. That was, however, rather impossible, seeing as the room was packed and he seemed to be the only living person there.

“Congratulations to the newlyweds!” a skeleton exclaimed from behind him, sharing a toast with an equally skeletal fellow beside him. His eyes widened in shock and confusion. Surely they weren’t talking about him…right? “N-newlyweds?! Now wait a minute - who’s married?”
